Turkey: A New State Hospital In Hatay

Built with the financing of the EU under the Facility for Refugees in Turkey (FRiT), and implemented by AFD under a delegation of funds, the construction and equipment of the new hospital was led by the Turkish Ministry of Health. With construction complete, installation of the latest equipment is underway and will be complete in mid-January. Provisional acceptance by the Ministry will be achieved in spring 2022, after which the hospital will begin services to a population of around 250,000 in Dörtyol and neighboring towns. The entry into service of the new hospital will ease the existing pressure on the province's health infrastructure and services by replacing the existing hospital, whose technical operations and capacity are no longer suited to the increased needs of the growing population. Equipped with seismic isolators, the new hospital also provides the technology required for provinces at high seismic risk such as Hatay.
